Very simple but so tasty Mor kulambu. It looks like a big list of ingredients for a simple mor kulambu, but it wont take that much time to prepare this delicious kulambu. For a simple good meal this is a good option. Try this surely you will love this 

INGREDIENTS
White Pumpkin – a small piece
Curd / yoghurt – 2 cups
Ginger – 1/4 inch piece
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
TO GRIND
Coconut – 3 tbsps
Pepper – 1/4 tsp
Cumin – 1/2 tsp
Green chilly – 2
TO SOAK IN WATER 1/2 hr
Channa dal / Kadalai paruppu – 1/4 tbsp
Toor dal / thuvaram paruppu – 1/4 tbsp
Corriander seeds / kothamalli – 1/4 tbsp
SEASONING
Mustard
Red chilly – 1 or 2
Curry leaves few
Cilantro
METHOD
1. Soak toor dal , channa dal and corriander seeds in water for 1/2 hr.
2. Grind coarsley soaked dals, coconut, cumin , pepper and green chillies.
3. Cut the white pumpkin into small cubes, pressure cook the cubes adding enough water. (just one whistle)
4. Beat the curd well (not too watery like buttermilk, but little thicker )and add the ground paste to this curd and crushed ginger.
5. Heat little oil in a pan and pop mustard , red chilly, asafoetida, curry leaves. Now add the curd mixture , turmeric powder and allow it to boil for a minute.
6. Add the cooked pumpkin cubes and cook it in low flame for few more minutes. Finally add salt and garnish with cilantro.
7. Enjoy with white rice and a piece of pickle.
Note: You can also use bottle gourd instead of white punpkin. But white pumpkin iIs perfect for this kulambu. I have also add some fresh spinach to this and that also good too.

It looks like a kadhi but is different
From the ingredients I can imagine how tasty it must be .Can we add some other vegetable instead white pumpkin/gourd?
Hi Archana, I never tried with any other vegetables, but the another version of this curry without dals , I have used carrot, french beans. So i think u can try carrot and beans instead of bottle gourd or pumpkin.

we call it majjige huli jasu. this is so soothing dish and usually its a must in any function/wedding menu. beautiful presented. love the colour u got here. perfect:)

Hi Mishmash, we too make the curry without dals, but adding dals gives you a diff. taste. Try this if you get some time.

This one is my favorite….I like my Mom preparing it with vadas and sometimes pumpkin…watever, this is absolute comfort food. Oh..Iam missing it 2222222222222 much!!
