This was the first time I saw this vegetable in here in US. This is one of my favourite vegetable. After a long time I enjoyed this poriyal. It takes more time to chop the vegetable into very tiny pieces. Don’t cut them into 1/2 inch or 1inch bigger pieces. This poriyal is so good if you cut them into really small pieces.
Ingredients
Cluster beans / Kothavarakkai – 1/4 lb
Coconut – 3 tbsps
Shallot onion – 4
Green chillies – 2
Garlic – 1 pod
Cumin – 1/4 tsp
Chopped onion – 1/4
Method
1. Wash and finely chopped the cluster beans. (very thin pieces, not very long pieces)
2. Add enough water and cook until the cluster beans is done. (If u have excess water drain the water. It is good if u add the correct amount of the water instead of draining the excess water.)
3. Grind coconut, shallot onion, cumin, green chilly, garlic coarsely.
4. Heat little oil in a pan, pop mustard, add the chopped onion and add the cooked vegetable and then the ground mixture ,salt and allow to cook for few more minutes and enjoy with rice.

Hi! Today is the first day I browsed your site. It is very interesting and nice receipes.
We make this poriyal slightly different. We make the dough of Tuvardhal, Chanadal and red chillies and saute it till it gets cooked and add boiled cluster beans and coconut.
This is called Kothavarangai Paruppu Usili. Try this also.
Thanks
