Vazha Thandu Poriyal

BANANA INNER STEM DISH
Banana stem is rich in fiber. I have read that the juice of banana stem is a good remedy for kidney stone and also improve the functionality of kidney and liver. This is one of the common vegetable in Indian markets. This dish is very simple and easy to make. Let us eat healthy and be healthy.

Ingredients
Banana stem (vazha thandu) – 1/2 lb
Coconut – 4 tbsp
Green chilly – 2
Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
Cumin – 1/2 tsp 
Salt

Method
1. Chop the stem finely and put this in  buttermilk  adding little salt to it (or water) for few minutes.
2. Drain the chopped vegetable from the butter milk and add enough water, turmeric powder and cook until the vegetable is done.
3. Grind the coconut , green chillies, cumin into a coarse paste and add this to the cooked vegetable and add salt.
4. Cook for few more minutes and serve.

    I wish I could get some Banana stem,never tried it before.I will try and look for it in Chinese stores.
