Crab Curry / Nandu Kulambu

SPICY INDIAN NANDU/ CRAB KULAMBU
This crab curry is so good for this cold weather. If anybody suffering from cold here is the quick remedy. Try this surely it will help you to feel better.

Ingredients
Crab – 2lbs
Onion – 1 medium size
Tomato – 1 medium size
Red chilly powder – 1 1/2 tsps
Corriander powder – 1 1/2 tsps
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Tamarind paste- 1/2 tsp
Ginger/ Garlic paste – 2tsp
Coconut – 3tbsps
Cilantro to garnish
Salt to taste

To Grind
Fennel – 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Black pepper – 1/2 tsp
(Dry roast above three and grind them into powder)

Method
1. Heat 2tsps of oil in pan. Add the washed crab pieces add some turmeric powder and fry it for two mins. (This reduce the smell of the crab). Keep the fried crab pieces aside.
2. Heat 3 tsps of oil , pop mustard , then add the sliced onions and fry until transparent. Add the ginger/garlic paste and then chopped tomato and allow it to cook well. Once they are done add the ground powder , chilly powder, corriander powder, turmeric powder and fry until oil seperates from the masala.
3. Add a cup of water and allow the masala to cook for a while. Grind the coconut into a smooth paste and add it to the masala. After 5 minutes add the tamarind extract and finally add the fried crab pieces and enough salt. Mix everything together. If you need more water add some and allow it to cook.
4. Gravy shdn’t be so watery.  Garnish with cilantro. This crab curry tastes better the next day than the first day.
