When I was in school, the teachers used to say if somebody weak in maths “Hey! ask your mom to cook vendakkai for you”. I dont know whether there is any relationship between vendakkai and maths. I dont want to do a research in it. If any of u have any idea about this, I am very eager to hear from you.
Ingredients
Okra/Lady’s finger/ vendakkai – 20
Chopped red onions – 1/2
Chopped tomato – 1 medium size
Red chilly powder -1 tbsp
Yoghurt – 3 tbsp
Salt
Cilantro
Method.
1.Wash and wipe the okra with a paper towel and sliced it into 1/4 inch round pieces.
2.Add some oil in a pan and add the sliced okra and cook until they become soft.
3.Now transfer the okra into a bowl,add some more oil, pop mustard and add the chopped onions.
4.Once the onion is done add the tomato and let it get mash well. Add the chilly powder and mix everything together. Add the cooked okra to it and mix well.
5.Allow this mixture to cook for 3mins. and finally add the yoghurt/curd . Do it in low flame.Cook for another one minute and chopped cilantro and salt and serve hot.

i prepare the okra poriyal with red chillies istead of chilli powder. i must try this method and see if it differs in taste but generally this okra poriyal tastes good
